Phil Gallegos PT-19 landing at Norton. Picture was taken a couple years ago.  Rick Holman was at the controls, however, Phil did fly it for about three minutes. Phil ultimately sold it to a guy that has a full size PT-19

Richard Smiths P51

Frank Harris did the building and cockpit work. This man is truly a master builder with attention to detail like you wouldn't believe. He builds many airplanes and cockpits for club members. Frank enjoys the work so what can I say.

I made the mistake of keeping track of the cost of everything when building this bird right down to the last item. Not including what I paid for labor the total was nearly $6,000.

This is a READY TO COVER top flite giant scale mustang. Fiberglassed and painted. It has the new DA85 gas engine with the SOLO variable pitch propeller system. KELEO scale exhaust system. Eleven JR 8711 servos. Two 4500 ma batteries. Sierra Giant scale retracts. Scale 5 inch aluminum wheels. 2 inch retractable tail wheel. 32 oz fuel tank. JR spectrum 9 channel receiver with two satellite antennas. JR 9303 spectrum 2.4 radio. Airplane weighs 32 lbs.

Flies real nice and sounds great in the air. I have around 20 flights on it now. My knees still get a little weak on the pilots stand. This is a lot of $$$ in the air for me. Each flight is getting a little less dramatic. Again I want to thank my BEST FRIEND, FRANK HARRIS for his patience with me when building. Great job.

Rich is still trying to get this engine in his plane

Pat Costley's Hanger 9 quarter scale cub. Engine is a Saito 220 four stroke. Flies great.

Pictures are of the Hanger Party at the Chino Airport as part of the evening festivities of the Southern California Scale Squadron event 6/6/08.

Scale Fun Fly June 6-8, 2008

Some of the detail craftsmanship of club member Frank Harris. Looks real, huh!

More of Frank's handiwork.

And another shot.

P-38 take-off

Nice fly-by

Losing power in the windy conditions.

Eject... eject... eject...

Ouch!

Ouch...ouch... ouch!

Ouch again!

More June 2008 Fun Fly Pics
A GeeBee, not the racer

Piper Paunee. Its an ARF

A BIG P-51 and Jap Zero

An old P-38 and a Mustang in the background that is being covered in real aluminum
72 inch wingspan, weighs 18 pounds and is powered by an electric ducted fan. Motor puts out about 6 horsepower (5000 watts).
That big zero again

And the big P-51
F-14 Tomcat didn't fly. Sea Fury did.
British SE-5

A scratch built British Moth Minor. Note size compared to my shadow
A German Jungmeister

A beautiful P-6A. I voted it to be my favorite in the peoples choice competition.
You would grimace too if Homer were your pilot.
Nice P-47

This is the before shot. Note great air brush paint job. 14 year old kid flew a great 3D demo flight.
The "after". His engine coughed during a low level maneuver that demanded engine power. The pilot looks sad.
One of many similar Stearman bipes.

A couple more colorful entries.

This airplane is 18 years old and the guy flew it with wild abandon. It is built exactly like full size Newport. No balsa. All spruce and plywood etc.
This guy did a 3D demo you would have to see to believe.

More of the same

The noon lineup

An Ercoupe. Old time version of a Tomahawk.

This 3 cylinder radial really sounds great

I'll bet the real airplane really sounded great with this V-12 engine.
A Rutan Verieze like Brandon had

A HUGE Sopwith Pup

This is not a wreck. Its a scale model of an autogyro.
That Jungmeister again.
Finally, an electric powered version of the Airwolf TV series copter. Note the missile launchers.
